Olympic swim trials show women got faster

The Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Swimming Trials got under way Tuesday in Montreal with over 700 swimmers battling it out for a spot on this summer's team.

As of Thursday night several athletes had already secured their spot in one the 13 finals that have already been swum.

TheDailyPlanet.com took the results from the 2008 trials and compared them alongside results from this year's events so far. Two graphs were produced to show which year's swimmer were faster if medals were divided up again according to time.

On the men's side the 2008 swimmers were significantly faster, while the women would have only scraped out two medals compared to current times.

The trials wrap up Sunday.
