Malcolm J. Brenner is a photographer, writer, and self-proclaimed zoophile. His nine-month-long sexual relationship with Ruby the dolphin is the basis for his self-published novel, Wet Goddess: Recollections of a Dolphin Lover.
Brenner told thedailyplanet.com that he did not intend to become involved with the dolphin, but she had other ideas. “She was making advances at me, at first it was a form of play with her. She began coming onto me by rubbing onto me, by soliciting masturbation, by becoming very personal with me.” Brenner said he knew he was a zoophile - which he said is someone who is sexually attracted to animals - since his teen years and does not agree with anti-bestiality laws. “Why is it ok for me to breed a sheep, to artificially inseminate the sheep, to butcher and eat the sheep, but having sex, no, you can’t do that,” he told thedailyplanet.com. “If you can do all these other things with an animal in your possession, why draw the line at sex?” His novel has gotten him a lot of negative attention, and in one instance Brenner lost his job after one of his promotional interviews, but he is also awaiting word from a publishing company and several television stations. Brenner said he does not think what he does with an animal in his care is anybody’s business provided the animals are not hurt and that the act is consensual. He said other zoophiles have come forward thanking him for expressing the unpopular and unheard point of view of the zoophile. “I didn’t write the book for zoophiles, I wrote the book for dolphins,” he said. Wet Goddess: Recollections of a Dolphin Lover is available on amazon.com, ebay, and in ebook form on Smashwords.
