On the Swiss Chalet side of things (a sit-down restaurant), Kruger will replace two cabinets full of police paraphernalia with knick-knacks from Canada, the United States, Germany, France, Russia, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom.

“I’ve had a lot of nice compliments,” he says. “We’ve had quite a few of the G8 support teams coming in already to eat.”

A retired OPP detective-inspector, Kruger finds the G8 security preparations fascinating. As the official town crier for Bracebridge, he offered to “cry” for the G8 leaders but was told there won’t be any opening ceremonies. He volunteered his services on Savour Muskoka’s behalf
